The badge on the website today reflects a recent, repeated audit, not a one-off achievement from 2016.

Demonstrated scale of AWS business. There are thresholds around the volume and consistency of AWS business the partner drives. In practical terms: an Advanced Tier partner is running enough infrastructure, for enough customers, for long enough, that AWS has audited the operation and put its own name next to it.
When you're choosing an implementer, an AWS badge is a nice-to-have. When you're choosing infrastructure, it's close to the whole question. Your customers' SAP Business One systems will live on AWS regions, AWS storage, AWS networking - and the difference between a provider who resells a VM and a provider who engineers on AWS at Advanced Tier is the difference between ‘it's hosted somewhere’ and a 99.995% uptime SLA you can put your own name on.
